A holiday tradition in The Woodlands Town Center, the annual Thanksgiving Day Run Thru the Woods Sponsored by GE, is a race/walk designed for all ages and levels of fitness. This year marks the event’s 23rd year as one of Texas’ premier running and walking family events. The 2012 event is expected to draw well over 7,000 participants, spectators, and volunteers to kick-off the Holiday Season, making this the largest Thanksgiving Day racing event in the Houston Region. In addition to families coming from virtually every corner of the region, we also attract participants from almost 30 different states and countries.The 23rd annual Run Thru the Woods is scheduled for November 22nd, 2012 at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands Town Center. The holiday event is both a family event and a serious running event, enticing for the competitive racer, weekend warrior, recreational runner, kids and walkers. Categories and start times include a Timed 1 mile Children’s Race,starting at 7:45am, a certified 5 mile run at 8:15am, a Timed 3 Mile Teen Race for ages 12 – 17 at 8:25am and the 3 mile Family Walk, starting at 8:35am. The 5 mile event also features a Masters, Clydesdale and Athena division. Proceeds benefit youth charities in Montgomery County including the South Montgomery County YMCA Partners Scholarship program; Conroe ISD Operation Gradution, Conroe ISD Air Force JR.
