Plymouth United Church will host a free screening of The Line, on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. The documentary is the newest film from Emmy Award-winning writer and producer Linda Midgett.

The 40-minute film uncovers the emerging and entrenched faces of poverty in our country — such as the suburban former banker, who now relies on a food pantry; to an aging career fisherman, whose shrimping business has been devastated by the after-effects of Hurricane Katrina and the BP oil spill in the Gulf Coast. The screening of the film will be followed by a panel discussion of community members.

The screening is part of a month-long focus on poverty at Plymouth United Church. In Plymouth’s area of north/northwest Harris County, over 25,000 residents received some form of service from Northwest Assistance Ministries (NAM) in the 2011-12 fiscal year.
