The Woodlands Mall Presents
BAM – Because Art Matters!
Free Art Project for Kids
n its continuing partnership with BAM! (Because Art Matters!), on Saturday The Woodlands Mall is hosting 2nd Annual Fast Draw Contest for students in the seventh and eighth grade for the 2013-14 school year. Students in Montgomery County schools are invited to register for the event.
The Fast Draw Contest, held on the lower level across from Forever 21, will consist of a work session where students will draw a still life that has been set up by BAM! Supplies, including 11″x14″ sheet of paper, lead pencils, sharpeners and erasers, will be provided for the artists. Each student will have 50 minutes to complete his/her work. To pre-register, a student should send an email to bamfastdraw@gmail.com and include his/her name, e-mail address, phone number, school, school district, grade level, age and t-shirt size [small, medium or large]. To receive a t-shirt, the pre-registration must be submitted by Wednesday, September 18.
Fast Draw is limited to the first 75 eligible contestants who sign up. BAM will maintain a waiting list of 20 potential contestants once registration is full. When a student qualifies for the pre-registration list, an Art Release Form will be sent to the first 75 applicants with additional information about Fast Draw. Immediately after the judging the day of the contest, there will be an Awards Ceremony with prizes for first, second and third place. Awarded artwork will be displayed in The Woodlands Mall’s Spotlight on the Arts gallery, located on the upper level near the Food Court. The work will be the property of BAM! for one year.
BAM! (Because Art Matters) is the community and educational outreach arm of The Woodlands Waterway Arts Council, a non-profit organization that provides cultural enrichment through the arts. The Woodlands Mall has participated in BAM! community projects since the fall of 2011. For more information contact Noemi Cortez at 281 363-3363, or Noemi.cortez@generalgrowth.com.
